A Conditions Race with Weights as follows:
BASIC WEIGHTS:
Two-year-olds . . . 50kg Three-year-olds . . . 53,5kg Four-year-olds and older . . . 55kg
Fillies and Mares Allowance . . . 1,5kg
Maximum Weight to be carried: 60kg
Minimum Weight to be carried: 50kg
GENERAL CONDITIONS:
(Penalties and Allowances)
(a) Penalties will only be incurred for races won after 1 January 2010.
(b) Races won during two year old career will not be penalised.
(c) Graded races won that were restricted to three year-old horses only will incur a penalty 1kg less than
penalties referred to below (to a limit of a zero penalty).
(d) Races won during the period 1 January 2010 to 30 July 2011 incur a penalty 0,5kg less than those referred
to below (to a limit of a zero penalty).
(e) Penalties are cumulative but will not exceed 5kg in total.
(f) No penalties will be incurred after the publication of Weights except if the Weights are raised in terms of
the Rules.
Accruable penalties
(1) A winner of a Grade 1 race to receive a 3kg penalty for the first such win and 2kg penalty for each such win
thereafter.
(2) A winner of a Grade 2 race to receive a 1,5kg penalty for the first such win and 1 kg penalty for each such
win thereafter.
(3) A winner of a Grade 3 race to receive a 0,5kg penalty for each such win.
(4) A winner of a race carrying a gross stake of R500 000 or more and that is not a Graded race will receive a
2kg penalty for the first such win and a 1kg penalty for each such win thereafter.
(5) A winner of a race carrying a gross stake between R150 000 and R499 999 and that is not a Graded race to
receive a 1kg penalty for each such win.
The winner of the 2012 Winter Classic (Grade 3) run at Kenilworth on 27 May 2012 will be guaranteed a
run in this race subject to the payment of Entry and Declaration Fees.
